Hari & Co (Lyon 7e) continues its rise. The Lyon-Gerland-based food start-up, which wants to restore legumes to their rightful place at the heart of the plate, has completed a second round of financing of 3.2 million euros. A round of financing involving the crypto-crowdfunding platform ChainRaizer, and which should allow the young company to change dimension.

"The first round of financing (2 million euros in April 2018, N. D. L. R. ) had allowed us to take a step forward to structure ourselves, the second will allow us to accelerate, on the communication and commercial issues, to become a mainstream brand" emphasizes Benoît Plisson, co-founder of the company with Emmanuel Brehier.
Hari & Co (18 employees, including 5 Hari & Co (18 employees, including 5 recently recruited), which relies on 100% organic produce and short-distance legumes for the flagship products in its range, namely legume-based patties and dumplings, is very present in the BtoB market (catering, schools, etc.). It now wants to open up wider horizons in mass distribution (for the moment 20 % of the turnover, not communicated).
"There is a huge potential to be explored," adds Benoît Plisson. With a presence in 2,000 points of sale in France by 2020, Hari & Co also intends to rely on innovation to seduce palates.
A new range should be launched in a few weeks. In a trend of decreasing meat consumption, the co-founder is convinced: "Everything that is leguminous appears to be a solution of the future, by its nutritional and environmental aspects." Hari & Co has more than one card to play here.
Santé Publique France recommends the consumption of at least two portions of legumes per week; a recommendation in line with the EGALIM law which makes "eating better" a societal struggle. "At Hari&Co, we are convinced that we will eat better tomorrow thanks to a better consumption of legumes. Through our presence in the foodservice industry, it is our responsibility to help children and teenagers, the adults of tomorrow, rediscover and love legumes" says Emmanuel Brehier, co-founder of Hari&Co. Hari&Co takes this role to heart by contributing to the education of good eating habits through activities in school canteens to help children discover legumes from field to plate.
For students, the start-up participates in "Green Mondays" in university restaurants to encourage the implementation of an alternative vegetarian meal. More broadly, Hari&Co contributes to better eating by working with organizations such as CROUS, Sodexo and, since this year, ELIOR. And the numbers bear witness to this, since in 2017 HARi&CO served 750,000 meals, while this year the start-up has already served more than 3.5 million meals in public catering.
